The Science Behind the Innovation

The Pupillary System

Research suggests disruption in the midbrain, focusing on locus coeruleus activity and the norepinephrine system, can be tested noninvasively by measuring how the pupils respond to light, a reflex called the pupillary light reflex (PLR). This system can be targeted for identifying physical markers of ASD risk in clinical practice.

A Vision for Biometric Screening

We are designing and developing hand-held technology that will provide objective biometric analysis to screen for ASD risk. Our tool will give doctors useful neurodevelopmental PLR metrics to inform decision-making for evaluation and treatment.
